With the new generation of RTX graphics cards from Nvidia, Asus ROG Strix SCAR II GL504 promises to be a mid-range gaming laptop for gamers.

The new point that many gamers expect from a gaming laptop model is to add Nvidia’s new RTX graphics card option. Not only more powerful, but the new GPU generation also possesses the ability to handle Ray Tracings and DLSS antialiasing technology. On the GL504 model, Asus offers two GPU options: RTX 2060 or RTX 2070.

ROG Strix SCAR II gaming laptops have been introduced by Asus since last year with many changes in appearance. The first is the ultra-thin border screen (the company announced with a 15.6-inch version with a thinner than the first 2.33 cm). Of course, too thin edges are also the cause of the webcam being placed in a helpless position on the lower right corner. For users who rarely use video calls on a computer, this is not too disturbing.

In the mid-range segment, ROG Strix SCAR II is mostly made of plastic, except the screen is metal. However, Asus knows how to make its products cool with mainstream diagonal lines from the lid to the inside. Counterfeiting carbon pattern combined with military style, adds visual impression to the machine when viewed.

Laptop gaming from Asus has a moderate measure with a thickness of 25.7 mm, weighs 2.4 Kg. The built-in battery has a capacity of 66 Wh. For good heat dissipation in a body that is not too muscular, the machine has up to three heat escape slots and many air vents on both the top and bottom. Inside are two large 12 V fans ensuring the system operates stably when running at full capacity.

ROG Strix SCAR II GL504 is a laptop model aimed at rivals who love FPS games (First Person Shooter), so the keyboard and screen have separate characteristics for this category. Independent four-zone LED RGB keyboard with four WASD keys is highlighted. The 15.6 Full HD screen in addition to the 144 Hz refresh rate also has a 3 ms response speed, ensuring clear display quality in fast action scenes.

Being updated with the new generation GPU is more powerful, the machine can take full advantage of the 144 Hz screen potential in popular FPS games like Counter Strike at the highest setting. However, with more “horny” names like PUBG, Fornite or Apex, it still requires players to sacrifice their graphics settings to achieve the best frame rate.

With Core i7 configuration of 8750H 6 cores, 16 GB RAM, 512 SSD and 6 GB RTX 2060 GPU, Asus ROG Strix SCAR II GL504 reference price at some dealers is 47.99 million. Of course Asus also has many other configuration options such as Core i5 8300H, SSHD 5,400 rpm 1TB hard drive, 256 GB / 1 TB SSD and RTX 2070 GPU.
